This sweet antique ring is made of fully hallmarked 9ct rose gold and dates from 1913. There appears to be a ‘CH’ hallmark (for Charles Horner), but this is not completely clear. The ring front is set with a carved green agate of a gentleman in profile. Please note that this ring has a small section of gold missing from one side of the cameo; this damage is reflected in the price.
The ring is a UK size P and a half / between a US size 7.5 & 8
The ring weighs 0.8g and the cameo (including the gold mount) measures 8mm height
The underside of the ring head is stamped ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that it was made in Chester in 1913. There is also a maker’s mark which appears to read ‘CH’ (for Charles Horner- please see photo for details).
This antique ring is 113 years old, shows some signs of age and wear and is priced accordingly. There is a small section of gold missing from one side of the agate and a very small chip to the top of the cameo carving. Apart from this the ring shows just light general wear. By design the ring shank is not thick. Please see all photos.
