Antique Art Deco Era (1922) Sterling Silver & Enamel Handbag Mirror / Pendant
This beautiful and functional antique handbag mirror / pendant is made of fully hallmarked Sterling silver and dates from 1922. The reverse of the mirror has beautiful guilloche enamelling in a vibrant turquoise blue colour. The enamelling and mirrored panel are both in lovely condition and this item is fully usable as a handbag mirror; the top suspension ring means it can also be worn as a pendant.
The mirror (including the silver mount) measures 4cms diameter. The mirror weighs 11.3g
The edge of the mirror is stamped with the lion passant (for Sterling silver) along with hallmarks showing that it was made in Birmingham in 1922. There is a maker’s mark of ‘C&N’. The top suspension ring is original and is also stamped with a lion passant.
This antique mirror pendant is 102 years old and is in lovely condition for its age. The enamelling and the mirror itself are both in excellent condition - there are no chips or losses to the enamel and no silvering to the mirror. The silver mount is in very good condition; there is no damage other than a very small, insignificant, edge dent to the silver which is shown in the last photo. The top suspension ring is original and is not soldered closed.
