This stylish and elegant antique ring dates from the 1930s - 1940s and is made of hallmarked 9ct yellow gold. The ring is set with a genuine, natural, rectangular cabochon cut opal; the opal has a white body colour with flecks and small flashes of mainly green, with a little pink in different lights. The colour variation is more pronounced when the ring is against a dark background. The inside of the ring shank bears the following hand engraved inscription:

‘O.M.W. to R.J 02.10.42

The ring is a UK size N / US size 6.5

The opal itself measures 1cm x 6mm and the ring weighs 1.1g

The inside of the ring is stamped ‘9CT’ for 9ct gold, along with the above inscription.

This ring is around 80 - 90 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The opal is in very good condition with a glossy surface finish; on very close inspection it can be seen that there is a fleabite sized nick to two of the corners but these are not obvious to the naked eye. By design this ring was not made with a thick shank.
