This beautiful antique butterfly brooch dates from around 1920 - 1930 and is made of hallmarked Sterling silver by the prestigious silversmith and jeweller, John Atkins & Sons. The butterfly is enamelled in a vibrant aqua colour, which has a softly iridescent finish. The butterfly has a violet enamel thorax and each wing is accented with a ruby red enamel dot. This brooch is offered for sale in very good condition, with no enamel loss or damage.

The butterfly has a wingspan of 3.2cms and the brooch weighs 3.7g

The reverse is stamped ‘STERLING SILVER’ along with a design serial number and a maker’s mark of ‘JA&S’ (for John Atkins & Sons).

This antique brooch is around 100 years old and is in very good condition for its age, with no damage or enamel loss and showing just light signs of age / general wear to the reverse. The clasp / pin are in secure working order.
