This decorative antique Etruscan style brooch is made of fully hallmarked 9ct yellow gold and dates from 1903. The brooch front is set with a central garnet surrounded by six seed pearls, all arranged in a flower design. There is a small circular locket compartment on the reverse of the brooch which has a protective glass cover, inner securing ring and retains the original fabric backing. The locket compartment is unused / empty.
The brooch measures 4.2cms length and it weighs 2.6g
The reverse of the brooch is stamped ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that it was made in Chester in 1903. There is also a maker’s mark. The pin itself is not gold.
This antique brooch is 122 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The pearls and garnet are in good original condition. The brooch retains its original ‘C’ clasp and pin.
