Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold, Turquoise and Pearl Locket Pendant
This antique locket pendant dates from the Edwardian era and is made of 9ct rose gold. The front of the locket is set with seven cabochon cut turquoise and six seed pearls. The locket has two inner compartments, both retain their inner securing rings and one half has purple backing paper.
The locket measures 1.9cms height (excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 3.2g. The locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety, which means that the locket front and back are made of 9ct gold and the frame and inner securing rings are made of a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability).
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the locket has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct gold ‘back and front’ (see above for details).
This antique locket is over 100 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing light signs of age / general wear. One of the turquoise has a chip. There are no dents to the front of the locket, the reverse shows light general wear with a slightly uneven surface finish and a small ‘crease’ to the gold in the top corner. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. The inside of the locket shows signs of wear / use consistent with its age.
