Antique Edwardian Era 9ct Rose Gold and Paste Set Locket Pendant
This pretty and decorative antique locket pendant dates from the Edwardian era and is made of 9ct rose gold. The front of the locket is set with clear and pinky red paste stones, all arranged in a sweet flower and bird design. The locket opens to reveal two locket compartments which could house photos, a lock of hair etc. The locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety, which means that the front and back panels of the locket are made of 9ct gold and the inner securing rings and frame are made of a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability).
The locket measures 3.1cms height (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 5.0g
The back of the locket is stamped ‘9CT BACK & FRONT SILVER SETTING’ (for 9ct gold ‘back and front’ and a silver stone setting).
This antique locket is over 100 years old and is in good condition for its age, with no dents and showing just light signs of age / general wear. Inside the locket compartments there are two cream card backing papers, two inner securing rings and one half of the locket has a protective perspex type cover. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. On very close inspection it can be seen that there is a small, subtle, historic repair to the bale. The top suspension ring is not soldered closed.
