This unique and collectable antique mourning brooch dates from the Georgian era and has a hand engraved inscription for 1814. The brooch front features a woven hair panel, under a glass cover, which is surrounded by lustrous seed pearls. The reverse bears the following inscription:
‘Harrient Henty Obt. 29 Sept. 1814 at 17’

The glass cover is in good condition showing just light general surface wear. It appears that some sort of dust or sediment has mixed in with the hair panel. The clasp and pin are original and in secure working order.
