This decorative and collectable antique miniature seal dates from around 1820. The gold cased seal has an ornate design and an intaglio carved white agate base, which depicts a simple landscape scene. This sweet little seal would make a unique charm or pendant and is offered for sale in very good condition.
The seal is approximately 1.7cms high and the base measures 9.5mm x 8mm (maximum dimensions). It weighs 1.2g
There are no hallmarks; the seal tests as gold cased.
This antique seal is around 200 years old and is offered for sale in very good condition, with no wear to the gold casing and no damage to the agate / carving detail. Under magnification (and in the photos which have been enlarged) it can be seen that there is a hairline ‘gap’ between the agate and the gold mount in one area, but this is not significant (the agate is completely secure within the mount).
