This unique antique fob seal dates from the Georgian era. The seal is gold cased and features decorative carving detail. The base is set with sard with a heraldic intaglio carving, which appears to depict a dragon / horse / mythical beast on top of a jousting lance (see imprinted image for detail). This seal is still functional but would also make a unique pendant.
The seal has a height of 2.5cms and it weighs 10.3g
The base measures 2cms x 1.7cms
As is often the case with items of this age and type there are no hallmarks; the seal tests as gold cased.
This antique seal is around 200 years old and is in very good condition for its age, with no damage and showing just light signs of age / general wear. The carved base is in lovely condition with no chips or damage and with crisp carving detail. There are no dents to the seal which shows just light general wear to the gold casing and a couple of small, dark spot marks. Please see all photos.
