Antique Silver and Enamel Miniature Penknife / Pendant
This sweet and collectable antique miniature penknife is made of solid silver, with a steel blade and central section. The penknife has guilloche enamelling in a vibrant turquoise blue with white polka dots (the enamelling is the same on both sides). The blade pulls out of the central section and folds back in the normal way.
The penknife measures 2.5cms length when folded closed extending to 4.5cms when the blade is pulled out (these measurements exclude the bale and suspension ring).
The penknife weighs 4.3g
As is sometimes the case with items of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the penkife tests as solid silver with a steel blade and central section.
This antique penknife is in good condition for its age. There is no enamel loss. The steel sections show light signs of age and use and a little discolouration (could probably be removed with wire wool). The blade pulls out easily and has a crisp retraction action. The silver suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
