This antique pendant dates from the Victorian era and is made of ‘garnet gold’ (a low grade of gold - approximately 4ct). The gold is a mellow shade and is between rose gold and yellow gold in colour. The pendant is set with ‘rose cut’ Bohemian garnets arranged in a gently tiered design. The garnets reflect the light very nicely and the pendant is centred with a small seed pearl.
The pendant measures 2.6cms height (excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 2.4g
As is often the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks; the pendant has been professionally tested and is made of ‘garnet gold’ (around 4ct in value).
This antique pendant is around 150 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. There is a small spot of discolouration on the reverse of the pendant. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
