Antique Victorian 9ct Gold Buckle Motif Locket Pendant
This sweet, smaller size, antique locket pendant dates from the Victorian era and is made of 9ct gold. Both sides of the locket have a central buckle motif but one side has an engraved ivy leaf design around the buckle, and the other has flowers (which are probably forget-me-nots). Inside the locket is empty apart from one inner securing ring and some original purple backing paper.
The locket measures 2.3cms height (including the bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 2.3g
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the locket has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct gold (solid, not plated or back and front). The inner securing ring on one half of the locket is a gold coloured metal and is not gold.
This antique locket is at least 140 years old and is in fair-good condition for its age, showing some signs of age / general wear. One side of the locket has a small spot solder repair to the bottom of the belt (also visible on the inside) and there is a very small, shallow and insignificant dent to the top part of the other side of the locket (not obvious). The top suspension ring is not soldered closed. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. This locket is priced to reflect condition.
