Antique Victorian Gold Cased, Citrine & Sard Heart Shaped Watch Key

£75.00

This lovely antique watch key dates from the Victorian era and is gold cased. The watch key is set with a foiled, heart shaped, smoky coloured natural on one side and an natural sard heart shaped plaque on the other. The watch key sides have lovely scrolled carving detail. I have no way of testing for functionality, but this beautiful key is a little decorative work of art and would make a lovely pendant.

The watch key measures 3.3cms height (including the top suspension ring) and it weighs 2.9g

As is often the case with items of this type, there are no hallmarks. The watch key has been professionally tested and is gold cased, which means that there is a heavy layer of gold plating over metal. The key part is lined with steel for durability and functionality.

This watch key is around 140 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing light signs of age and general wear / use. The ‘key’ part is a little irregular in finish (not significant) and the end that would attach to a watch winder is a little mis-shapen.
