Antique Victorian Gold, Mother of Pearl and Hair Mourning Pendant

This collectable antique mourning pendant dates from the Victorian era. The locket is gold fronted and the frame is a gold coloured metal. The backing to the hair display is made of mother of pearl and has a pretty, colourful, iridescence in different lights. The hair display has gold wirework accent detail.

The locket measures 2.4cms height (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) x 1.7cms width.

The locket weighs 3.3g

As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks. The locket has been professionally tested and has a 9ct gold front with a gold coloured metal frame around the glass and a base metal suspension ring.

This antique locket is at least 140 years old and is in good condition for its age showing some signs of age / general wear. The gold locket back is in good condition and once possibly had some black enamel decoration. The glass shows some light - moderate signs of age / general wear in the form of some edge nibbles / light scratches. The top suspension ring shows some signs of wear and has not been soldered closed.
