This antique locket pendant is made of natural rock crystal and silver. The hinged locket dates from around 1890 and has two hemispherical rock crystal halves, which come together to form an orb. The rock crystal reflects the light beautifully and the domes greatly magnify anything put under them. This locket is effectively double sided and could contain two separate photographs. This particular locket would look great worn as a pendant but is also small enough to be worn as a bracelet charm.
The locket measures 1.7cms diameter (excluding the suspension bale / ring) and it weighs 6.2g
The fittings are not hallmarked but test as solid silver.
This locket is around 130 years old and is in very good condition for its age, with no damage and showing just light signs of age / general wear. I have only lightly cleaned the silver, which has a lovely aged patina to it. The locket opens easily and pushes securely closed. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
