Colourful Vintage (1998) 9ct Gold & Natural Opal Stud Earrings

£85.00
sold out

These good size, colourful, vintage stud earrings are made of fully hallmarked 9ct yellow gold and date from 1998. Each earring is set with a lively, natural, cabochon cut opal and the earrings are set with hallmarked 9ct yellow gold butterfly backs.

Each earring front (i.e. the opal including the gold mount) measures 9.5mm x 7mm and the earrings have a combined weight of 1.6g

Each earring post is stamped ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that the earrings were made in Sheffield in 1998. There is also a maker’s mark. Each butterfly back is stamped ‘375’.

These vintage earrings are 27 years old and are in very good original condition showing just light signs of age / general wear. There are no dents to the gold and the opals have a glossy surface finish. Under magnification (and in the photos which have been enlarged) it can be seen that there are a couple of hairline stress lines within the opals which don’t reach the opal’s surface; these ‘lines’ are not at all obvious when the earrings are worn. The butterfly backs fit securely onto the posts.
