Exquisite Antique Early Victorian Citrine Miniature Seal With Bees and a Beehive Intaglio Base
This exquisite and unique antique miniature seal dates from the early Victorian era (around 1850 - 1870). The seal is gold plated and has a foiled natural citrine base which reflects the light very nicely and has been hand engraved with an intaglio carving of a beehive dripping honey, with bees buzzing around it. This seal would look great worn as a pendant or charm and I believe the base case still be used as a seal.
The seal has a height of 14.5mm and the base measures 1cm diameter.
The seal weighs 1.4g
There are no hallmarks; the seal has been professionally tested and is gold plated.
This antique seal is around 160 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing light signs of age / general wear to the gold casing. The foiled citrine base is in lovey condition with no chips or damage. On close inspection it can be seen that there is light uniform wear to the gold casing and a little discolouration on the side joins, but this does not stand out to the naked eye.
