Good Size Antique (1904) 9ct Gold Double Sided Locket Pendant
This good size antique double sided locket pendant is made of fully hallmarked 9ct gold and dates from 1904. The locket is the same on both sides: each side has a circular glass cover and contains (different) removable images. The locket is undone by unscrewing the top bale which then opens the frame and releases the two glass covers and contents; a photo / lock of hair can then be fitted inside before securing the gold frame again by screwing up the bale. This locket pendant is offered for sale in very good condition.
The locket has a diameter of 3cms and it weighs 5.0g
The bottom rim of the locket is stamped ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that it was made in Birmingham in 1904. There is also a maker’s mark of ‘C.V & Co’.
This locket is 121 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just the lightest signs of age / general wear. There are no dents to the gold or damage to the glass other than a tiny fleabite sized nick to the edge of the glass on one side (barely visible). The top bale screws / unscrews as it should. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
