Good Size Antique Victorian 9ct Rose Gold Mounted Shell Cameo Brooch
This Victorian shell cameo brooch features a classical lady in profile. The cameo is set in a solid 9ct rose gold mount. The cameo has lovely carving detail and the brooch is set with a secure pin / clasp.
The brooch measures 3.8cms height x 3.4cms width and it weighs 9.5g
As is often the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the brooch mount has been professionally tested and is made of solid 9ct yellow gold.
This brooch is over 120 years old. The cameo itself is in very good condition with no chips or damage and showing just very light signs of age / general wear. The gold mount has a hand fitted look, uneven in places. It’s likely that the brooch pin / clasp are later replacements and there are signs where they have been fitted to the brooch mount.
