Gorgeous Antique Art Deco Era Silver, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond Paste 'Night & Day' Flip Ring
This gorgeous and beautifully made antique ring dates from around 1930 and is made of hallmarked silver. The ring is set with a row of sparkly clear paste ‘diamonds’, a row of calibre cut paste ‘rubies’ and a row of calibre cut paste ‘sapphires’. The top and bottom sides of the ring feature attractive, sinuous, engraved scrolling detail. This is a ‘night and day’ flip ring: the outer ring bands rotate via hinges so that the ring can either be worn with the paste rubies or paste sapphires as the central band. The faux sapphires / rubies can also be worn as a single band uppermost for an understated look and the the ring can be worn as a two row ring (see photos).
The ring is a UK size N and a half / between a US size 6.5 - 7
The ring weighs 4.0g and the ring front has a maximum height of 9mm.
The inside of the ring band is stamped ‘835’ (a continental grade of silver)
This antique ring is around 90 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The paste stones are in very good condition with no damage (other than a very small chip to two of the ‘rubies’ which are only visible under magnification). The flip mechanism works as it should with the right tension.
