These lovely, rare, antique earrings date from the early - mid Victorian era and are made of 9ct rose gold. The earrings are set with hand carved carnelian and can be worn as either ‘studs’ (i.e. just the top flower part of the earring), or as dropper earrings with the facetted carnelian drops added. As is often the case with earrings from this era, the hook fittings have a concealed opening / closing point at the front (see photos for detail). It’s unusual to find a convertable pair of earrings from this era compete, with both drops, and in very good condition. The ear fittings open easily and click securely closed.
When the drops are fitted, the earrings have a total drop (from the top of the ear fitting to the base of the carnelian drop) of 3.7cms.
The earrings have a combined weight of 4.3g
