This sweet and sentimental antique locket pendant is made of fully hallmarked Sterling silver and dates from 1870. The front of the locket has an engraved flower design (a rose?) and the reverse is plain (apart from the hallmark). Inside, the locket compartments retain the original backing papers, inner securing rings and each has a perspex type protective cover. This locket is offered for sale in very good condition.
The locket measures 2.3cms height (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 4.4g
The reverse of the locket is stamped with the lion passant (for Sterling silver) along with hallmarks showing that the locket was made in Chester in 1870. There is also a maker’s mark of ‘WT’.
This antique locket is 156 years old and is in lovely condition for its age, showing just very light signs of age / general wear. There are no dents to the silver and all the inner components are present. One of the perspex type protective cover has a small crack / split to the top. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
