This rare and collectable antique stickpin dates from the Victorian era and is made of a 15ct yellow gold terminal, set on a 9ct yellow gold pin. The terminal is set with a genuine scarab beetle with a concealed locket compartment behind. The locket has a protective glass cover and appears to be empty.
The stickpin measures 6.2cms length and the terminal (i.e. the scarab beetle including the gold mount) measures 1.7cms x 1.2cms.
The stickpin weighs 3.1g
As is often the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks; the stickpin has been professionally tested and comprises of a 15ct gold terminal set on a 9ct yellow gold pin.
This antique stickpin is over 120 years old and is in very good condition for its age, with no damage and showing just light signs of age / general wear. I’m unsure how easy it would be to open the locket compartment; it would probably need to be done by a jewellery / goldsmith.
