This unique antique pendant or large charm dates from around 1920 - 1930 and is made of hand carved bone. The pendant depicts the three wise monkeys: hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. The pendant is set with silver fittings. The bone has natural colour variation and may also have been darked in some areas for decorative effect.
The pendant measures 1.8cms height (including the integral suspension bale but excluding the top ring) and it weighs 3.6g
There are no hallmarks but the fittings test as silver.
This antique pendant is around 100 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. There is no damage to the bone / carving other than a tiny chip to the tip of one monkey’s foot. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
