This rare and collectible tiny, miniature penknife dates from around 1800 - 1830 and is made of mother of pearl and steel, with a silver topped finial and suspension ring. The blade opens and springs back closed as it should; one side of the blade has a thumbnail groove to enable opening. A suspension ring is attached to the top.
The penknife measures approximately 2.4cms length (including the integral bale but not the suspension ring) and it weighs 1.5g.
This miniature penknife is around 200 years old and is in good condition for its age showing light signs of age and use. There is some discolouration to the steel blade, which could possibly be polished out with wire wool. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
