This small and decorative antique locket pendant / charm dates from around 1890 - 1910 and is made of 9ct gold. The gold has a lovely rich tone and is between yellow gold and rose gold in colour. The front of the locket is engraved with ivy leaves and flowers, with a central blank ‘swag’, which could be engraved with initials. The reverse also has a beautiful engraved scrolling design. The locket opens to reveal two secure locket compartments which both retain their backing papers, inner securing rings and perspex type protective covers. This lovely little locket can be worn as a pendant but could also be worn on a bracelet as a charm.

As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but this locket has been professionally tested and is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety. This means that the front and back covers are made of 9ct gold and the inner rings and frame are made of a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability).

The locket measures 1.8cms diameter and it weighs 2.8g

This antique locket is over 100 years old and is in lovely condition for its age, with no damage or dents and showing just very light signs of age / general wear. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
