Small Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Locket Pendant

£69.00

This sweet, small, antique locket pendant dates from the Edwardian era and is made of 9ct rose gold. The front of the locket is engraved with a scrolled design with a central blank cartouche, which could be engraved with initials. The reverse of the locket has a pretty engraved leaf design. Inside there are two locket compartments: one half retains the original backing fabric, inner securing ring and Perspex type cover and the other half is empty.

The locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety, which means that the front and back of the locket are 9ct gold but the frame and inner securing rings are a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability).

The locket measures 1.6cms diameter and it weighs 2.0g

As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the locket has been professionally tested and is 9ct gold ‘back and front’.

This antique locket is at least 125 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. There are a couple of scratch marks to the inside of one half of the locket (see photo). The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
