Substantial Antique / Vintage Silver and Natural Amethyst Figa Pendant
This unusual and substantial antique / vintage Figa pendant is made of solid silver and set with a natural carved amethyst, depicting a 'mano figa'. The figa is a potent symbol from the ancient world; it was worn as a powerful amulet to promote fertility and to protect its wearer from dark and magical forces. This figa is made of hand carved natural amethyst in a pretty pale lilac shade; the amethyst shows natural colour variation and pattern within the stone.
The pendant measures 5.1cms length (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 6.7g
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks; the silver mount and fittings have been professionally tested an are made of solid silver.
This antique / vintage pendant is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear to the silver. The amethyst is in very good condition with no chips or damage to the carving and with a nice, polished, finish. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
