Unusual Vintage (1973) 9ct Gold and Bowenite Apple Pendant
This unsual and appealing vintage pendant is made of fully hallmarked 9ct gold and dates from 1973. The pendant is in the realistically styled form of an apple made of bowenite, with carving detail at the base and nicely formed gold fittings.
The apple measures 2cms height (including the gold leaf and stalk fittings but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 5.2g
The underside of one of the gold leaves is stamped ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that the pendant was made in Birmingham in 1973. There is a maker’s mark of ‘D&F’ (for Deakin & Francis).
This vintage pendant is 51 years old and is in very good condition, with no damage and showing just light signs of age / general wear. The suspension ring has not been soldered closed.
