Victorian 9ct Gold, Bloodstone and Red Jasper Locket Pendant

£139.00

This decorative and unusual antique locket pendant dates from the Victorian era and is made of 9ct yellow gold. On one side the locket features ornate engraving detail with two inset bloodstone panels and two inset red jasper panels. The other side of the locket houses an original painting / photograph under a glass cover. The locket is set with a lovely, facetted 9ct gold suspension ring. I believe that a jeweller / goldsmith should be able to remove the glass cover so that the photo can be removed / replaced, but I cannot guarantee this.

The locket measures 2.3cms x 1.8cms (excluding the bale and suspension ring) and it weighs 4.6g

As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks; the locket has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct yellow gold (the suspension ring tests as 9ct rose gold).

This antique locket pendant is in good condition for its age, showing light signs of age / general wear. The gold side of the locket is in very good condition with no dents to the gold and no damage to the inlaid stone panels. The side / edge of the locket shows light general wear. The glass cover shows light general wear and has some fleabite sized nibbles to the edge in places. I am unsure whether it is a photograph or painting under the glass cover as the image has faded over time. The top suspension bale has not been soldered closed.
