Vintage Platinum, 18ct Gold, Sapphire and Diamond Ring
This antique / vintage ring dates from around 1940 / 1950 and is made of 18ct yellow gold, with a platinum diamond and sapphire setting. The ring is set with four genuine diamonds and a central dark blue sapphire. The diamonds are natural and untreated and naturally vary a little in shade and clarity. One of the outer diamonds is a little darker in colour than the other ones.
The ring is a UK size R and a half / between a US size 8.5 - 9
The central sapphire measures 4mm diameter and the ring weighs 2.2g
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the ring has been professionally tested and is made of 18ct yellow gold with a platinum setting.
The diamonds are in good condition showing just light signs of age / general wear. Under magnification it can be seen that there is a little superficial wear to the sapphire, but this is not obvious to the naked eye. The ring shank has reduced in thickness at the back, either through general wear or as a result of a historic re-sizing of the ring.
